Advanced Diagnostics
Advanced Vehicle Diagnostics
Advanced diagnostics is what sets FixBox d.o.o. apart from ordinary garages: instead of guessing and swapping parts until it works, we use original manufacturer software, wiring diagrams and an oscilloscope to find the real source of the fault. Customers come to us from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
What is advanced diagnostics?
Advanced diagnostics is the in-depth search for the true cause of a fault — mechanical, electrical and electronic. Unlike simply reading fault codes, we measure real signals, analyse data in real time and compare it against factory values to pinpoint exactly what is wrong.
Original manufacturer software and documentation
We use original diagnostic software and technical documentation from the manufacturer — electronic schematics, wiring diagrams and factory procedures. We solve the problem to the manufacturer’s specification, not by assumption.
Electronics repair — not just swapping parts
Many garages “fix” a fault by replacing the whole component. Using electronic schematics, we repair the electronics at component level — which is often significantly cheaper and faster for the customer, and the result is a lasting fix instead of an expensive replacement.
Oscilloscope — where diagnostic software reaches its limit
Diagnostic tools show a fault code, but not its true cause. That is where we use an oscilloscope for precise, real-time signal measurement — on sensors, actuators, communication lines and power supply. This is how we find the real source of the problem instead of guessing.
Software updates and flashing (ECU and other units)
We perform ECU software updates and updates of other control units, as well as flashing and modifying the software of various components at the customer’s request:
- updating the software of control units,
- flashing the ECU and other modules,
- software modifications on request,
- fixing faults caused by faulty software.
Online adaptations, security access and factory reset
After replacing or repairing parts, coding and initialisation are often required. We provide:
- online adaptations and coding of new components,
- security access and unlocking of control units,
- unlocking SFD1 and SFD2 protection (VW group) and SGW (Security Gateway),
- opening brake calipers for pad replacement and other service functions,
- activating and enabling special functions and service procedures,
- restoring factory settings,
- initialisation and calibration after part replacement.
Problems we solve
We are true master technicians for every kind of vehicle problem — and we very often solve faults that do not show up on diagnostic tools at all:
- intermittent faults that are hard to reproduce,
- problems with sensors, actuators and wiring,
- communication errors between modules (CAN, LIN),
- power supply, ground and signal-loss issues,
- faults that other garages could not fix.
Systems we diagnose
- engine and engine management (ECU),
- gearbox and transmission,
- ABS, ESP and safety systems,
- comfort and body electronics (BCM),
- emission systems (DPF, AdBlue/SCR, catalytic converter).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How is advanced diagnostics different from ordinary diagnostics?
Ordinary diagnostics reads a fault code, while advanced diagnostics measures real signals with an oscilloscope and uses the manufacturer’s original schematics to find the true cause of the fault.
Do you solve faults that do not show up on diagnostics?
Yes. We very often solve problems that do not appear on diagnostic tools — by measuring signals and analysing them in real time.
Do you repair electronics or just replace parts?
We repair electronics at component level using electronic schematics, which is often cheaper and faster than replacing the whole unit.
Do you update and flash ECU software?
Yes, we update the software of the ECU and other control units, flash and modify software on request, and handle online adaptations and factory resets.
How much does advanced diagnostics cost?
The price depends on the type of fault and the time needed for measurement and analysis. For an exact quote, contact FixBox.
